Mike Northrup, head of the Cowles Thompson Appellate Practice, provides regular updates at our Reverse & Render blog regarding topics such as his annual summary of Supreme Court of Texas statistics and activity from the Supreme Court of the United States. His latest entry looks at citation to electronic databases in the Fort Worth Court of Appeals.
While Fort Worth has long been known as the “Gateway to the West,” it also seems to lean toward Westlaw. Mike’s blog post explains: For pending and unreported cases, the 20th Edition of The Bluebook calls for citation to the LEXIS or Westlaw electronic report of the case when one is available. But if you are in the Fort Worth Court of Appeals, you would be wise to use the citation to Westlaw if it is available.
